Securing funding is only one piece of the puzzle. Below are the resources, registrations, and services every business and nonprofit needs — most of them free.
Grant reviewers and funders evaluate far more than your written application. They look at your organization's legal standing, federal registrations, financial infrastructure, and insurance coverage. A strong application paired with incomplete compliance documentation is one of the most common reasons grants are denied or delayed.
YourFundingBridge partners with and recommends the resources below because they are the same tools our team uses when preparing clients for submission. We have no interest in recommending anything that does not directly serve your success.
Grant Central USA has trained hundreds of nonprofits and organizations — including the George W. Bush Foundation, Magic Johnson Foundation, and Salvation Army — on how to write competitive grant proposals. Their courses are ideal for organizations that want to build in-house grant writing capacity alongside professional writing services.
Note: Note: Grant Central USA is currently at capacity for done-for-you grant writing services. YourFundingBridge handles professional grant writing — their training programs complement our services for organizations building internal capacity.
Health insurance, business employee benefits, life insurance, legal protection plans, and financial planning. Most grant applications and government contracts require proof of general liability or other business insurance — UFG can get you covered quickly through 40+ top-rated carriers.

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is required for nearly every grant application, business bank account, and entity formation. The IRS provides EINs completely free online — the process takes about 15 minutes.
Note: Never pay a third party for an EIN. The IRS application is free, instant, and takes 15 minutes.
SAM.gov registration is required to apply for any federal grant or contract. You must register your organization and obtain a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) before submitting to Grants.gov or any federal agency.
Note: Allow 7–10 business days for SAM.gov processing. Start early — this is a common delay for first-time applicants.
The official portal for all federal grant opportunities. Create a free account to search, apply for, and track federal grants from over 1,000 federal grant-making agencies.
Note: Your SAM.gov UEI is required to complete Grants.gov registration.
The SBA offers loans, grants, certifications (8(a), WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB), and free business counseling through SCORE and Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs). Many federal contracts are set aside exclusively for SBA-certified businesses.
Note: SBA certifications can significantly increase your eligibility for federal contracts and set-aside grants.
SCORE is a nonprofit resource partner of the SBA that provides free, confidential business mentoring and education from experienced business professionals. Ideal for new businesses preparing for their first grant application.
Note: SCORE mentors have helped over 11 million entrepreneurs. Completely free, no strings attached.
Apply for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status directly with the IRS. Small organizations (projected annual gross receipts under $50,000) may qualify for the streamlined Form 1023-EZ at a reduced fee.
Note: Processing times vary from 3 to 6 months. Expedited processing is available in limited circumstances.
Candid (formerly GuideStar) is the world's largest source of nonprofit information. Claim your free nonprofit profile to increase visibility with funders and demonstrate transparency — many grant applications require a Candid profile.
Note: A Candid Seal of Transparency significantly increases funder confidence in your organization.
Relay offers free business checking accounts with no monthly fees, no minimum balance, and up to 20 sub-accounts for budget tracking. Widely used by nonprofits and small businesses for grant fund management.
Note: A dedicated business bank account is required before applying for most grants and is essential for proper fund management.
Every LLC and Corporation is required to have a registered agent in their state of formation. A registered agent receives legal documents and official government notices on behalf of your business.
Note: YourFundingBridge handles entity formation — we can coordinate registered agent setup as part of your formation order.
